Both of Ramos’ brothers were Navy Corpsman, and when he heard about all the things they were experiencing — and all of the good work they were doing — Ramos knew he wanted to be a part of the same Navy family. Ramos joined the Navy just 10 days after graduating from high school in 2007; he calls his fellow Sailors amazing and says it is great to have such wonderful friends. After completing his training, Ramos was stationed with the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment. During his first combat deployment, Ramos was wounded in an IED blast, which ultimately resulted in the amputation of his lower left leg. His brothers, he laughs, like to joke about his injury and how he obtained it, teasing him that he couldn’t get through an entire combat deployment. Once he separates from the Navy, Ramos hopes to pursue a career in law enforcement.
