Jones joined the Navy when she was 35; she was seeking adventure and hoping to challenge herself. A highlight of her naval career was a yearlong tour assisting people displaced by Hurricane Katrina; she also really enjoyed supporting Navy recruitment. About a year and a half after her youngest child passed away in 2009, Jones became a victim of sexual assault. She currently suffers from PTSD and anxiety, and she says that her condition remains an everyday struggle. Now retired from the military, she is trying to pursue her college degree. She has found adaptive athletics to be a healthy release, and she is looking forward to competing alongside other wounded warriors.
