Scorpio II deploys on Motor Vessel C-Commando

PEARL HARBOR (Feb. 16, 2001) -- Scorpio II departed Pearl Harbor at 10:35 a.m. today on the Motor Vessel C-Commando. The vessel transited to the site of the accident and was able to deploy the remotely operated vehicle at about 2:30 p.m.

Additionally, the deep submersible unit Deep Drone and a side-scan sonar system arrived in Pearl Harbor this morning. The equipment was loaded on the Pearl Harbor-based auxiliary rescue and salvage ship, USS Salvor (ARS 52). Following onload, and subsequent inport operational testing, USS Salvor will get underway and proceed to the site.
