Preliminary inquiry report received

U.S. Pacific Fleet Public Affairs


PEARL HARBOR (Feb. 16, 2001) -- Adm. Thomas B. Fargo, Pacific Fleet Commander, today received the preliminary inquiry report regarding USS Greeneville.

The report, prepared by Rear Adm. Charles Griffiths, Commander Submarine Group Nine, and endorsed by Rear Adm. Al Konetzni, Commander Submarine Force Pacific, is currently being reviewed.

Following a review of the preliminary inquiry report, a decision will be made regarding how to proceed with the investigation. This decision will be publicly released as soon as it is available.

The purpose of the preliminary inquiry report was to make recommendations regarding a proper forum for a formal inquiry and to define the scope of that inquiry.
