U.S. Navy, Coast Guard news briefing to be held U.S. Pacific Fleet Public Affairs
USCGS Sand Island, HAWAII (Feb. 14, 2001) -- The U.S. Navy and Rear Adm. Joseph J. McClelland, the Commander of the 14th Coast Guard District, is scheduled to hold a 4:30 p.m. news briefing today regarding the status of the search and rescue efforts of the Ehime Maru / USS Greeneville (SSN 772) collision, at Integrated Support Command (ISC) Honolulu, here.
Capt. Charles J. Leidig, the Commander of the Navy Submarine Development Squadron 5, will be on hand to dicuss the search recovery operation.
To get to ISC Honolulu:
Coming from Waikiki, head west on Ala Moana Boulevard until it becomes Nimitz Highway. Stay on Nimitz and make a left on Sand Island Access Road. Stay on that road for about 2.5 miles and turn left when you see the sign that says "Coast Guard Integrated Support Command."
Coming from Pearl City, head east on H-1, stay in the right lane that leads to Nimitz Highway. Eventually the right lane will head into Sand Island Access Road. Once on that road, follow the directions, above."
