Captain Masao Kuramoto

Commanding Officer, JDS Chihaya (ASR 403)

Capt. Kuramoto was born in Kagawa prefecture, Feb. 1947.

He entered Defense Academy in March 1965 and studied Electric Engineering. Upon completion of the Academy, he entered MSDF Officer Candidate School March 1969.

He is the first Commanding Officer of JDS Chihaya, and successfully established her complete readiness for Submarine Rescue. He assumed Commanding Officer of Submarine for three times, Commanding Officer of AS and Commander of Submarine Division.
