MUARA, Brunei - Guided-missile frigate USS Reuben James (FFG 57) arrived in Muara, Brunei March 4 for a port visit.
The visit to Brunei is to strengthen ties with regional partners, as ambassadors through community service events, interaction with the local residents and joint military training.
“We are looking forward to our time in Muara and are eager for the opportunity to work with the Royal Brunei Navy, meet with the local people, experience the culture and strengthen the bond between our countries,” said Cmdr. David E. Miller, Reuben James’ commanding officer.
During the visit, Sailors from Reuben James will engage with the Royal Brunei Navy, students from local schools during community service projects and local residents. Local military cadets, students and government officials will receive a guided tour of the ship’s space.
Reuben James departed its homeport of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on Feb. 1 for a Western Pacific deployment, focusing on building positive international relations with partners in Southeast Asia.
