1. NMCB 5 Builds School, Relationships in Exercise Cobra Gold 2013

    Seabees assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5 arrived in Chiang Mai, Thailand to begin construction of a schoolhouse at the Ban Piang Rat School Jan. 19. The Seabees are working alongside the Royal Thai Air Force to complete the project as part of Exercise Cobra Gold 2013.

  2. U.S., Timor-Leste Build Maritime Partnerships with CARAT

    The U.S. Navy and Timorese Navy commenced the first Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Timor-Leste exercise Jan. 25, with an opening ceremony held at Port Hera Navy Base.

  3. Salvage Team Removes Fuel From Grounded USS Guardian

    To prevent potential environmental damage, a U.S. Navy-led salvage team on Jan. 25 completed removing all diesel fuel from the tanks of the mine countermeasures ship USS Guardian (MCM 5), which ran aground on the Tubbataha Reef one week earlier.

  4. USS Curts to Decommission after 29 Years of Service

  10. U.S. Navy Continues Operations to Free Grounded USS Guardian

    While the U.S. Navy continues operations to free the grounded USS Guardian (MCM 5) from Tubbataha Reef, all 79 crew members were temporarily removed today and safely transferred by small boat to the nearby support vessels USNS Bowditch (T-AGS 62) and MSV C-Champion.
