REF B IS COMBAT READINESS FLEET ORDER. REF C IS SAFETY FLEET ORDER.// RMKS/1. This fleet order on stewardship is the fourth in the updated series of U.S. Pacific Fleet orders and builds on our commitment to combat readiness, professionalism, and safety. 2. Stewardship is the diligent preservation, maintenance, and management of all resources under our care. We must meticulously utilize the resources entrusted to us, from our platforms and facilities to our systems and funds. We are going to fight with what we have. We will need everything that we have. We must be prepared for it to last longer than initially planned. 3. Good stewardship means we take pride in the appearance of our ships, submarines, aircraft, and shore facilities. It is a measure of our professionalism and discipline. This is what we call 'shipshape and seaworthy,' and is the visible expression of our high operational standards. When our platforms and facilities are shipshape and seaworthy, they are visibly free of rust, well-painted, and properly preserved; the bilges and decks are clean; equipment is properly stowed and secured; and systems are free of leaks, corrosion, and misalignment. 4. As stewards, we are responsible for, accountable for, and take ownership for every aspect of our equipment--from sound, preventive maintenance to correct operation and configuration. 5. Stewardship requires fostering a culture that compels and empowers the whole team to take care of their equipment. The culture is characterized by ownership and responsibility at every level of a command. It includes critical assessment to evaluate technical performance and readiness, identification of areas of improvement, and corrective action that produces enduring results. It means we hold ourselves and our subordinates accountable for the state of our platforms, equipment, and facilities. This culture is foundational to our warrior ethos and our ability to remain the strongest and most lethal fighting force in the world. 6. I direct all sailors in Pacific Fleet to cultivate the ethos of professionalism, combat readiness, and stewardship and to maintain your command, its equipment, and spaces shipshape and seaworthy every day. 7.
