Rear Admiral Terence M. Morrison, DSM

Rear Adm. Terence Morrison, DSM, Royal Australian Navy, joined the U.S. Pacific Fleet staff as deputy director, maritime operations, in February 2026.
A native of Sydney, Australia, Morrison commissioned in the Royal Australian Navy in 1991 and graduated in 1993 from the Australian Defence Force Academy with a bachelor’s degree in science. He holds a Master of Business from the University of New South Wales and a Master of International Relations from Deakin University.
His operational assignments include officer of the watch and air intercept controller aboard HMAS Swan (DE 50) and HMAS Hobart (DDG 39), principal warfare and operations officer aboard HMAS Melbourne (FFG 05), and executive officer aboard HMAS Newcastle (FFG 06). He conducted two tours of Sea Training Group as the fleet direction officer and operations officer to Commodore Flotillas (COMFLOT), and the fleet executive officer. He commanded the Fremantle-class patrol boats HMAS Geraldton and HMAS Gawler, an Australian Navy training team in Iraq (2004), the frigate HMAS Darwin; deploying to the Arabian Gulf and North Indian Ocean conducting maritime interception operations interdicting narcotics and piracy, and the landing helicopter dock HMAS Canberra.
His staff assignments include tactical development and maritime operations analysis in the Australian Maritime Warfare Centre (AMWC); a warfare instructor at Training Authority Maritime Warfare (TAMW); deputy director, demonstration, experimentation, test and simulator networks in the Chief Information Officer’s Group (CIOG); and the director of Hobart-class destroyer acquisition in Head Navy Capability (HNC).
As a flag officer, he commanded the Australian Surface Force (SWO Boss) at Fleet Command in Sydney. He was awarded a commendation for distinguished service for his command of the Navy training team in Iraq and a distinguished service medal (DSM) for his command of HMAS Darwin in the Middle East area of operations.
