YOKOSUKA, Japan - Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson visited Sailors at various units under Commander, Task Force (CTF) 70 while travelling throughout Japan, Dec. 16-19.
Richardson spent time interacting with personnel from Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5, USS John S. McCain (DDG 56), USS Shiloh (CG 67) and USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76).
“This is my chance to really convey how valuable and respected you are,” said Richardson. “I’ve had the chance to travel through this area and no matter where I’ve been there is a consistent message of how important it is for you to be here, the reliance and assurance you provide in this theater by going out and doing your job...it’s very clear that no one understands the importance of your mission more than you.”
While aboard John S. McCain and Shiloh, Richardson toured the ships and had an opportunity to talk with the Sailors who serve aboard the forward-deployed ships.
While aboard Ronald Reagan, CNO held an all-hands call with Sailors in the Hangar Bay. The call provided an opportunity for Richardson to speak with the Sailors and highlight their accomplishments and resilience throughout the year.
