New U. S. Pacific Fleet N6 Director Selected

Ms. Ruth A. Youngs Lew, a member of the Senior Executive Service, has been selected by Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet as the new Executive Director for Communications and Information Systems and the Command Information Officer (N6).

PEARL HARBOR - Ms. Ruth A. Youngs Lew, a member of the Senior Executive Service, was selected by Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMPACFLT) as the new Executive Director for Communications and Information Systems and the Command Information Officer (N6).

“Ms. Youngs Lew's 28 years of experience leading, managing and integrating complex command and control, communications, information warfare and information technology systems for the United States Navy provides her with essential knowledge, skills and abilities to support COMPACFLT in her role as the N6 senior leader,” said Mr. Todd L. Schafer, COMPACFLT’s Executive Director and Chief of Staff.

With almost three decades in government work, Youngs Lew has had a multitude of career experiences that include major roles in all aspects of engineering and acquisition. She has earned many awards, including the Superior Civilian Service award. She is a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps and a certified Level III in Acquisition Program Management in Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering.

Responsibilities of the N6 director include ensuring that COMPACFLT, SEVENTH Fleet and THIRD Fleet Maritime Operation Centers are properly equipped and that all systems are installed and supported to further mission readiness.

“We need to thank Mr. Bob Stephenson of the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command who is currently our acting N6,” Schafer said. “Mr. Stephenson is serving COMPACFLT with distinction, keeping our cyber operations running without disruption.”

Youngs Lew is coming from the Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (PEO C4I) in San Diego.
