Navy Region Hawaii to Host Wounded Warrior Pacific Trials, Family Symposium

More than 60 seriously wounded, ill and injured Sailors and Coast Guardsmen will take part in the Wounded Warrior Pacific Trials March 10-13.

PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii - Navy Region Hawaii and Navy Wounded Warrior (NWW) - Safe Harbor are welcoming more than 60 seriously wounded, ill and injured Sailors and Coast Guardsmen to Honolulu, Hawaii for the Wounded Warrior Pacific Trials March 10-13. The trials also are supported by the U.S. Pacific Fleet.

The wounded warrior athletes will compete in cycling, seated volleyball, swimming, track and field, and wheelchair basketball at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH) and other locations throughout the island. The top 40 athletes will be awarded a spot on Team Navy and advance to a competition among all branches of the military.

In conjunction with the trials, Navy Region Hawaii also is hosting a Wounded Warrior Family Symposium at JBPHH March 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The symposium will feature testimonials from local wounded warriors and caregivers, a resource fair, and special remark from The Honorable Juan M. Garcia, assistant secretary of the Navy (Manpower and Reserve Affairs).
