COMPACFLT Staff Members Recognized for Leadership Achievements

Six members of the Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet staff were recognized by the Honolulu-Pacific Federal Executive Board for their excellence in leadership achievements during the 57th Annual Excellence in Federal Government Awards Ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, May 10.

PEARL HARBOR - Six members of the Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet staff were recognized by the Honolulu-Pacific Federal Executive Board for their excellence in leadership achievements during the 57th Annual Excellence in Federal Government Awards Ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, May 10.

The awardees included: Fleet and Joint Exercise Division for Team Excellence; Cmdr. Jonathan Lipps as Federal Leader/Supervisor/Manager of the Year; Mark Mentikov as Professional/Admistrative/Technical Employee of the Year; Rosanna Namoca as Clerical and Assistant Employee of the Year:; Operations Specialist 1st Class Alvin Balthazar for Exceptional Community Service; and Gary Mathis as Mentor of the Year.

"This was such a humbling experience," said Balthazar. "I don't do anything for the publicity; I do it because it's the right thing to do to better the community. I am grateful the command nominated me for this award and I hope to continue to represent the U.S. Pacific Fleet well."

"I am honored and proud to receive an award from such a model establishment when I am constantly surrounded by such deserving, hard working people," added Mathis.

The Honolulu-Pacific Federal Executive Board recognizes outstanding federal employees for their efforts, leadership and initiative in the community. It encourages excellence in government, reinforces pride in service and helps publicize the broad range of services provided by employees.

During the ceremony, the board's executive Director, Chris Conklin commends the award recipients for their strong dedication in their community and acknowledges them for their achievements.

"Every year we recognize the awardees and tell their story," said Conklin. "Their obligation to their service is beyond imaginable and it is a privilege to honor the best to reflect their devotion to duty."

The Federal Executive Board was established in 1961 by former President John F. Kennedy to improve communication among federal activities and programs outside of Washington, D.C., and bring national issues to the local spotlight.
