PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (Oct. 20, 2011) - The multinational and multi-agency Pacific Partnership 2011 (PP11) mission team was recognized with a resolution by the 17th Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM).

Between July 3 and July 14, the PP11 team engaged in medical, dental, veterinary, engineering, and community service civic action projects in all four states of the FSM - Pohnpei, Chuuk, Kosrae and Yap. More than 6,200 Micronesians received treatment at the medical sites.

Stating that "Pacific Partnership 2011 has played an invaluable role in diagnosis and treatment of serious illnesses and injuries during its mission in the Federated States of Micronesia," the congressional resolution expressed "sincere gratitude and appreciation to all members of the Pacific Partnership 2011" for their efforts.

Pacific Partnership is an annual humanitarian assistance initiative which provides medical, dental, veterinary, engineering and agricultural civic action programs throughout Southeast Asia and the South Pacific to promote interoperability between host nations and partner nations.

In 2011, Pacific Partnership completed mission ports in Tonga, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, and the Federated States of Micronesia. During the course of those visits, the medical contingent treated 38,696 patients at medical and dental civic action projects. The PP11 veterinary team provided treatment to more than 800 animals at veterinary civic action projects. Additionally, the PP11 engineering team worked on three community centers, 14 primary schools, one remote clinic, one Hospital, one evacuation center/gymnasium; one water distribution hub with three water catchment tanks, and one athletic field.

Ships from Australia and New Zealand, and a helicopter crew from France, supported different phases of the 2011 mission. Teams from Canada, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Spain also took part, along with a number of non-governmental and private organizations.
