Boxer Amphibious Ready Group Visits Guam

USS Boxer, USS Comstock, and Marines from the 13th MEU arrived at Naval Sstation Guam, Sept. 9 for a port visit.

SANTA RITA, Guam - The amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4), amphibious dock landing ship USS Comstock (LSD 45) and embarked 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) arrived at Naval Station Guam, Sept. 9 for a port visit during their 2011 Western Pacific deployment.

Boxer and Comstock are part of Boxer Amphibious Ready Group (BOXARG) commanded by Commander, Amphibious Squadron ONE, Capt. Curtis Shaub. BOXARG’s more than 4,000 personnel include nearly 1,800 Sailors and 2,200 embarked Marines from 13th MEU, led by Marine Col. David Coffman.

Guam is the third port visit for BOXARG in the 7th Fleet’s area of responsibility since departing the 5th Fleet, and is one of the final stops prior to its return to San Diego following a seven-month deployment.

Boxer, Comstock and 13th MEU are currently operating within the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations conducting Theater Security Cooperation events and are homeported in San Diego.
