SEPANGAR, Malaysia (NNS) - Seventh Fleet command ship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) arrived in Sepangar, Malaysia on Feb. 28 for the ship's first port visit to the city since April 3, 2010.

Blue Ridge and embarked 7th Fleet Sailors will work together during community service events in the area. Sailors and Marines will meet and play with children at the Bukit Harapan-Therapeutic Community and Hospital Likas' Children Ward as part of community service projects offered during the ship's visit.
More than 150 Blue Ridge and embarked 7th Fleet Sailors will meet with Royal Malaysian navy sailors during a reception hosted by the Malaysian navy at Sepangar Naval Base for professional and cultural exchange.
The 7th Fleet band will also perform around Kota Kinabalu during the ship's visit. The band will host a free and open concert held on the ground floor of Centre Point Sabah mall.
The performance will spotlight the full show band, a 1-hour variety performance of American classic, jazz, traditional, New Orleans, and contemporary rock music.
"We're looking forward to playing for the people of Kota Kinabalu and giving them great night to remember," said Musician 1st Class Brian Nefferdorf, leading petty officer for the 7th Fleet band.
Blue Ridge serves under Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group 7/Task Force (CTF) 76, the Navy's only forward-deployed amphibious force. Blue Ridge is the command ship for Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet. CTF 76 is headquartered aboard White Beach Naval Facility, Okinawa, Japan; with an operating detachment in Sasebo, Japan.
