Submarine USS Hampton Deploys

NAVAL BASE POINT LOMA, Calif. - Los Angeles-class submarine USS Hampton (SSN 767) departs for its six-month Southwest Asia deployment Dec. 7.

LA-class submarines are flexible platforms that can be called upon to conduct a multitude of missions including anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, strike warfare, special operations, irregular warfare, strike group operations, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

USS Hampton, commanded by Cmdr. Tony Lott, was commissioned November 16, 1993 and represents four U.S. cities: Hampton, New Hampshire; Hampton, Iowa; Hampton, South Carolina; and Hampton, Virginia. She is one of six LA-class submarines homeported in San Diego.
