PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii - U.S. Pacific Fleet Commander Adm. Samuel Paparo visited the Republic of Korea on Nov. 8 to reaffirm the strong and long-standing U.S.-South Korea Alliance.
 
During the visit, Paparo met with ROK 2nd Fleet Commander Rear Adm. Hwang and Deputy Commander Rear Adm. Choi for a tour of the headquarters and operational brief. Paparo also participated in a wreath laying ceremony to honor the 46 sailors killed when an enemy torpedo struck the ROKS Cheonan (PCC-772) on March 26, 2010. 
 
The ROK and U.S. Navy regularly participate in bilateral and multilateral exercises, including Pacific Vanguard and Talisman Sabre.
 
The visit to South Korea underscored Paparo’s commitment to strengthening alliances and partnerships for an enduring free and open Indo-Pacific.
