190917-N-NL576-0140 SEWARD, Alaska (Sept. 17, 2019) Sailors participating in the Arctic Expeditionary Capabilities Exercise (AECE) 2019 coordinate movements of machines and equipment while testing a system to transfer fluid from ship to shore in Seward, Alaska, Sept. 17, 2019. This capability could be used in a variety of scenarios to including humanitarian relief missions such as the emergency resupply of heating fuel to Alaskan communities cut off by natural disaster. Approximately 3,000 U.S. Navy and Marine Corps personnel participate in AECE 2019, a joint training exercise that tests expeditionary logistical capabilities in the Arctic region and prepares joint forces to respond to crises across the Indo-Pacific.
