190120-G-N0801-001 ALAMEDA, Calif. (Jan. 20, 2019) The maritime security cutter USCGC Bertholf (WMSL 750) departs Alameda, Calif., for a patrol in the western Pacific. While deployed, the crew will be working alongside other Department of Defense military forces, particularly the U.S. Navy. The U.S. Coast Guard has an enduring role in the Indo-Pacific region going back over 150 years. The service’s ongoing deployment of resources to the region directly supports U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives in the Indo-Pacific Strategy and the National Security Strategy.
