Michael Donnelly, Commander, Task Force 70 and Carrier Strike Group 5, gives a press brief prior to the departure of the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) from Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY) for a regularly scheduled deployment, May 20, 2022. Ronald Reagan is deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific region. For more than 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet’s forward-deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.
