USS North Carolina visit HMAS Sterling

ROCKINGHAM, Australia - A crew member of the United States Navy Virginia-class submarine USS North Carolina (SSN 777) throws a line ashore as the submarine arrives at Fleet Base West, Rockingham, Western Australia. The submarine arrived at Fleet Base West, Rockingham, Western Australia Aug. 4, 2023. The nuclear-powered, conventionally-armed submarine is in Australia for a routine visit to provide respite for the crew. The visit reflects the ongoing strength of Australia's alliance with the United States and builds on the visits of prior nuclear-powered submarines over the last 60 years.
