USS George Washington Conducts Flight Operations

Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Aircraft Handling) 1st Class Breana Royston, from Denver, North Carolina, assigned to air department’s flight deck crash and salvage division, signals for an F/A-18E Super Hornet, attached to the Dambusters of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 195, to drop its launch bar on the flight deck of Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) while underway in the Pacific Ocean, Oct. 30, 2024. George Washington is 7th Fleet’s premier forward-deployed aircraft carrier, a long-standing symbol of the United States’ commitment to maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific region, while operating alongside Allies and partners across the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet.
