Rear Adm. Richard W. Meyer, deputy commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet, provides remarks prior to an oath of enlistment for Reserve Officer's Training Corps (ROTC) cadets during halftime at the University of California Berkeley vs. Syracuse football game, Nov. 16, 2024. Meyer administered the oath of enlistment to 102 Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Space Force ROTC cadets and midshipmen from universities in the Bay Area, including UC Berkeley, Stanford, UC Davis, and California Maritime Academy. An integral part of U.S. Pacific Fleet, U.S. 3rd Fleet not only leads naval forces in the Indo-Pacific, but also provides the realistic, relevant training necessary to flawlessly execute our Navy’s role across the full spectrum of military operations—from combat operations to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
