Captain Jeffrey Buschmann

Captain Jeffrey Buschmann assumed duties as director for intelligence, U.S. Pacific Fleet in May 2022.

Buschmann is the son of a career surface warfare officer. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1997 where he played football for the Razorbacks. He received his commission after graduating with distinction from Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida, in 1998. He earned a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2005.

A former surface warfare officer, Buschmann lateral transferred to navy intelligence in 2006.

His operational tours include director for intelligence (N2) at U.S. Fleet Cyber Command / U.S. 10th Fleet, N2 at Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG), N2 at Tactical Development and Evaluation Squadron 5, N2 operations officer at NSWDG, multiple operational leadership assignments at Special Boat Team 22, and first lieutenant aboard USS Wadsworth (FFG 9). He has completed 13 deployments to various locations around the world.

Buschmann’s shore tours include, commanding officer of Nimitz Operational Intelligence Center, executive officer at the Center for Information Warfare Training, placement branch chief for the information warfare and foreign area officer communities (PERS 474) at Navy Personnel Command, and chief of operations and plans for the Combating Terrorism Division at U.S. Pacific Command’s Joint Intelligence Operations Center.

The combat contributions of the teams with which Buschmann has served have been recognized with five Presidential Unit Citations, four Joint Meritorious Unit Awards, and the National Intelligence Meritorious Unit Citation. In addition, Buschmann received the Rear Adm. Edwin T. Layton leadership award, and the Naval Intelligence Foundation award for exceptional leadership in intelligence support to the fleet.
