Navy identifies deceased USS Theodore Roosevelt Sailor

Aviation Ordnanceman Airman Apprentice Ethan Garrett Goolsby went missing Dec. 10 as the aircraft carrier was operating off the coast of Southern California.

SAN DIEGO - The U.S. Navy has identified the deceased Sailor assigned to USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), who went missing Dec. 10, as Texas native Aviation Ordnanceman Airman Apprentice Ethan Garrett Goolsby.

Goolsby reported to Theodore Roosevelt in July following initial training as an aviation ordnanceman in Pensacola, Fla., and was promoted to his current rank Sept. 16. He reported to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill., Nov. 18, 2019.

The incident remains under investigation.
