USS Patriot visits Osaka

The mine countermeasures ship arrived in Osaka, Japan, July 6 for a port visit as part of a summer patrol in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.

OSAKA, Japan - The Avenger-class mine countermeasures ship USS Patriot (MCM 7) arrived in Osaka, Japan, July 6 for a regularly scheduled port visit during a summer patrol in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.

The port visit to Osaka is an opportunity for Sasebo-based Sailors to enjoy the culture history of another prefecture in Japan.

“We are excited to be here in Osaka,” said Cmdr. Emily Royse, Patriot’s commanding officer. “Port visits like this allow us to experience and appreciate the rich Japanese culture.”

Patriot, part of the Mine Countermeasures Squadron 7 and Amphibious Force 7th Fleet, is conducting a routine patrol in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of partnership building and regional security.

Commander, Amphibious Force U.S. 7th Fleet, is the Navy's only forward-deployed amphibious force, headquartered at White Beach Naval Facility, Okinawa.
