DIEGO GARCIA, British Indian Ocean Territory - U.S. Pacific Fleet Master Chief Marco Ramirez visited U.S. Navy Support Facility Diego Garcia Aug. 26-28 to tour facilities and speak to Sailors stationed on the island.
This was Ramirez’s second visit to Diego Garcia and he focused on getting to know the Sailors here.
Ramirez toured facilities on the island, interacted with the CPO 365 program, held a lunch with CSAAD (Coalition of Sailors Against Destructive Decisions), and led an all-hands call on the island where he discussed a number of Navywide and Pacific Fleet topics.
“You impress me each time I come here," Ramirez said. "You do things right, and I ask you to continue to take care of each other and make sure everyone is on the same page."
The Fleet Master Chief stressed the strategic value of Diego Garcia and the island’s mission readiness and emphasized that one of the Fleet commander's strategic imperatives is 'be ready to fight tonight.' "When I look around Diego Garcia at what you do and how you do business, I believe that you are ready to fight tonight,” he said.
“This is a phenomenal base, but it’s only phenomenal because of each and every one of you," Ramirez added. "One island, one team, one mission, no doubt. I ask you to continue to stand together, stand tall and stand proud."
