USS Bonhomme Richard Arrives in Hong Kong

The forward-deployed amphibious assault ship and the embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit arrived in Hong Kong Sept. 18 for a port visit.

HONG KONG - Forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) and the embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) arrived in Hong Kong Sept. 18 for a port visit.

During the visit, Bonhomme Richard Sailors and Marines will be involved in various community service projects, hosting tours of the ship, sporting events, as well as enjoying the sights of this city of more than seven million people. Hong Kong is the most densely populated city in the world.

"This has been a much anticipated port visit for the crew," said USS Bonhomme Richard Commanding Officer Capt. Daniel Dusek. "Hong Kong is the considered jewel of Asia and we look forward to experiencing this unique culture, as well as making some new friends here."

Bonhomme Richard is the flagship of the Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is currently conducting joint-force operations in the 7th Fleet Area of Responsibility.
