PEARL HARBOR – Guided-missile destroyer USS Paul Hamilton (DDG 60), will depart Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam on Friday, Sep. 21, for a 10-month deployment to the Western Pacific and U.S. Central Command areas of responsibility.
“Paul Hamilton expects to conduct maritime security and ballistic missile defense operations during deployment,” said Cmdr. Scott A. Carroll, commanding officer of Paul Hamilton. “As a multi-mission AEGIS destroyer, Paul Hamilton is prepared to execute a full range of missions in support of U.S., partner and coalition objectives. The officers and crew are prepared and ready to go.”
Paul Hamilton is assigned to Commander, Destroyer Squadron 31, the immediate superior in command for all Pearl Harbor-based destroyers and frigates under an operational alignment to increase force presence and surge capacity in the Western Pacific under Commander, Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific.
Guided-missile destroyers are multi-mission anti-air warfare, anti-submarine warfare and antisurface warfare surface combatants. They operate independently for support of carrier and expeditionary strike groups and surface strike groups.
