PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii - The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Training Squadron will arrive at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH) Oct. 10 for a scheduled port visit.
More than 750 sailors from the Japanese ships JS Kashima (TV 3508), JS Asagiri (TV 3516) and JS Mineyuki (DD 124) will arrive in Hawaii to participate in various professional exchanges and social events.
The squadron is led by Rear Adm. Umio Otsuka, Commander, Japan Training Squadron. Capt. Masatoshi Kashihara is the commanding officer of Kashima; Cmdr. Syukaku Komuta, the Asagiri; and Capt. Norifumi Miura, the Mineyuki.
Japanese Consul General in Hawaii Yoshihiko Kamo is scheduled to attend the squadron's arrival. There will be a small contingent of local citizens on the pier to welcome the ship.
The Japan Training Squadron band is scheduled to perform at Ala Moana Shopping Center on Oct. 10, from 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
