USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), USS Sampson (DDG 102) and USS Chafee (DDG 90) participated in Seattle Seafair's 'Parade of Ships' Aug. 3, marking the beginning of Seafair's Fleet Week.

SEATTLE (NNS) - USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), USS Sampson (DDG 102) and USS Chafee (DDG 90) participated in Seattle Seafair's "Parade of Ships" Aug. 3, marking the beginning of Seafair's Fleet Week.

Civilians from the local community and around the U.S. viewed the parade from various locations around the water front, and some were able to embark the U.S. Navy vessels.

"It gives me great confidence in our military," said Toni Freeman, from Seattle. "I have a great admiration for the young people who are serving."

As Navy Band Northwest played in the background, people from the Seattle area came out to witness the parade as the vessels from the United States Navy, Coast Guard and Canadian navy sailed throughout Elliot Bay.

"We don't get to see the Navy's fleet much. It has been impressive so far," said Nancy McDougal, a visitor from Philadelphia. "I thank the military for my freedom. I thank them for being able to walk around, I really appreciate it."

Seattle Seafair Fleet Week also includes vessels from the U.S. Coast Guard and the Canadian Navy.
