CHINHAE, Republic of Korea (NNS) - The Los Angeles-class attack submarine USS Houston (SSN 713) arrived in Chinhae, Republic of Korea, Nov. 23 for a scheduled port visit.
While in port, Houston Sailors plan on strengthening ties between the United States and ROK Navy through community service projects and Morale, Welfare and Recreation sponsored tours.
The submarine's planned community relations project in Chinhae include a visit to a local orphanage, where Houston Sailors will take care of lawn and yard maintenance for the facility.
"I am happy to help," said Logistics Specialist Seaman Fredrick Lodonou, of Newark, New Jersey. "I'm looking forward to working outdoors."
Houston is one of three Los Angeles-class submarines home ported in Apra Harbor, Guam. Houston currently serves under Commander, Submarine Group 7, headquartered at Naval Base Yokosuka, Japan.
