150616-F-YW474-152 SAVUSAVU, Fiji (June 16, 2015) A Fijian veterinary student and U.S. Navy and U.S. Army medical personnel prepare a dog for surgery at the Ministry of Agriculture building at Savusavu during Pacific Partnership 2015. U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, Latter Day Saints Charities, and Animal Fiji veterinary personnel provided medical treatment for pets and captured strays. The hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) is in Savusavu, Fiji for the first mission port of Pacific Partnership. Pacific Partnership is in its tenth iteration and is the largest annual multilateral humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. While training for crisis conditions, Pacific Partnership missions to date have provided real world medical care to approximately 270,000 patients and veterinary services to more than 38,000 animals.
