USS Howard Conducts Change of Command Ceremony

YOKOSUKA, Japan (March 14, 2024) – Sailors stand in formation during a change of command ceremony aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Howard (DDG 83), March 14. During the ceremony, Cmdr. Eric Smitley relieved Capt. David Huljack as Howard’s commanding officer. Howard is forward-deployed and assigned to Commander, Task Force 71/Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest DESRON and the U.S. 7th Fleet’s principal surface force.
