Lt. Clint McClanahan

Fleet Bandmaster

Lt. Clint McClanahan enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July 2003 as an electric bass instrumentalist. After completion of musician “A” school, he served at U.S. Atlantic Fleet Band, 7th Fleet Band, and U.S. Fleet Forces Band, deploying to more than 20 countries throughout the Pacific, and South/Central American theaters of operations. In 2013, following musician “C” school, he was selected for instructor duty at Naval School of Music in Little Creek, VA.
 
Commissioned in September 2015, his officer assignments include Assistant Director, U.S. Fleet Forces Band; Concert/Ceremonial Band department head, security manager, admin officer and contracting officer representative at the U.S. Navy Band; and Director, Navy Band Southeast.
Prior to reporting as Fleet Bandmaster, U.S. Pacific Fleet Band, he received a Master of Music in wind band conducting from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University as part of the Naval Postgraduate School Civilian Institutions Program. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Morehead State University.
 
His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (four awards) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), as well as the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist qualification.
